DATARAN LANG (EAGLE SQUARE)
This is Langkawi's most prominent landmark for visitors arriving by sea. Perched near the Kuah jetty is the magnificent statue of the reddish brown eagle majestically poised for flight. According to local folklore, Langkawi derived its name from the eagle or "helang" while "kawi" denotes reddish brown - hence, Langkawi means reddish brown eagle.

GALERIA PERDANA
At Galeria Perdana visitors can browse through the display of gifts and souvenirs given to ex-Malaysia`s Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad by other world leaders. Located about ten kilometers away from Kuah, at Kilim, this place of interest has close to three thousand state gifts and awards given to the fourth prime minister of Malaysia. There are gifts of crystal ware, woodwork, leather, musical instruments, weaponry, Islamic arts and crafts, and special awards.

AIR HANGAT VILLAGE
Literally means Hot Springs. The name is associated with an ancient legend of two feuding families who threw jugs, pots and pans at each other. One of the jugs, filled with boiling water, fell on the ground and immediately a hot spring gushed out of the spot where the village now stands.

Conveniently located in the Mat Cincang Nature Park of Datai, offering ‘hot’ visitors refreshing mountain water to cool off. The waters cascade down a 30-meter (98 feet) drop, forming a natural pool below to swim in. These spectacular waterfalls are well worth a visit.

MAKAM MAHSURI
The famous legend of Langkawi that tells the tale of a woman accused of adultery and sentenced to death. When stabbed, she bled white blood as a sign of her innocence. Today, visitors can read the full story at her tomb in Kampung Mawat, several kilometres away from Kuah. Nearby is also a traditional Malay house to explore.

Field Of Burnt Rise. Right next to the airport, was the site of a mass paddy-burning spree conducted by Langkawi’s inhabitants with the Siamese invasion in 1821. The purpose was to prevent the enemy from attaining an extra source of food. Today, visitors can still find burnt rice grains on the ground two hundred years after the incident.
